Miss Havisham's Continuity Assessment

On below are the photos taken on the first assessment day of my final Miss Havisham design.
Model : Lilianna Jaroszewska
For the second assessment, I need to pay attention to the colours, tones and the positions of the wrinkles, dark circles and also the red colours on the dry skin. Also I need to pay attention to the messiness of the hair, for example, strands of hair coming out at the front.

2nd assessment
On below are the photos taken on the second assessment for my Miss Havisham design. During the assessment, I refer to the photos taken on the last assessment so to make sure the details are the same as last time. I'm pleased with the results of the look this time and by creating the hand chart, it helps me a lot as I can follow how it looks like and where the scratches, dry skin and veins are positioned and so I can create the look faster as well.

Comparing to the first assessment, I found out that the hair on the top of the second assessment are whiter as I've put too much baby powder on the top. Also, the dark circles and the red colours of the dry skin are lighter in tones on the second assessment while the first assessment are more bolder. The texture of the hair looks different and I think is because during the second assessment, the hair is more oily than the first assessment and so the hair looks flatter than the first one. The lighting on both assessment are different, so the colours on the skin might look a little bit different as well. But overall, I'm pleased with both assessments and I've learnt the importance of creating and doing continuity work throughout this project.

5) Apply the old age stipple with a sponge onto the hands. Remember to stretch the skin when using a hair dryer to dry the old age stipple. Make sure the old age stipple is dried after applied to the hands before adding another layer onto it.
6) Mix the white base with the lightest colour from the supracolor palette and apply the mixture to the whole face, neck and hands.

7)Use the loose powder to powder the face and neck with a puff.
8) Use the dark brown colour to enhance the wrinkles on the forehead, eyes and neck. After that, use a brush to blend the colour out.
9) Mix the white and black colour on the supracolor palette and apply it to the eye bags and inner eyelid to create dark circles effects.
10) Apply the red pinky colour on the lower lash line.
11) Get some white colour from the supracolor palette onto the disposable mascara and apply it to the eyebrows and eyelashes.
12) Contour the nose, nasolabial folds, perioral lines and mental crease using the contouring palette. Use the dark brown colour from the blush palette and apply it under the cheekbones.
13) Draw the veins with the mixture of green bluish colour and black from the supracolor palette and use a thin brush to draw the veins on the hands.
14) Use the eyelash glue and apply some onto the face, lips and hands (refer to the face chart ad hands design). Wait for it to dry a bit and then use the finger to stipple it. Stipple some red colour from the supracolor palette onto the dry skin areas.
15) Use the black stipple sponge and the dark red colour from the supracolor palette to create fine red veins on the cheeks and for the hands, create scratches.
16) Apply the tooth enamel onto the teeth with a baby bud.
17) Finally, apply the black colour from the supracolor palette onto the inner lips.

Equipments (Hair):
  • An apron
  • Dry shampoo
  • Baby powder
  • A brush, a comb and a tail comb
  • A hair bobble
  • Hair pins
  • Sectioning clips
  • Bobby pins
  • Flowers
  • A veil
1)Put some baby powder onto the hair first before getting started.
2)Divide the hair onto center parting. After that, divide the hair into from and back section (the back section will start from the ears).

    3) Tie the back of the hair into a ponytail with a hair bobble and then plait the hair and roll it into a bun shape and secure the hair with hair pins.
4)For the front part of the hair, remember do not plait the hair from too high as you want to leave the top part sleek and tidy first. Plait the hair and extend it to the back and roll into the bun. After that, secure it with the hair pins. Do the same on the other side.
    5) Make the hair messy and let strands of hair coming out from the hair. Remember to mess the plaits and the bun as well.
6)Put five flowers on the side of the bun
    7) Spray the hair with dry shampoo and put baby powder as well.
    8) Fold 1/3 of the veil and attach it onto the top part of the hair with bobby pins.
Practice in lesson:
I'm pleased with the results of the final look of Miss Havisham and I think in order to improve next time, I need to roll and make the bun at the back more flat and also put more dry shampoo at the back of the hair.  For the makeup, the dry skin near the eyes need to be higher because it needs to match the face chart. Also, for the hand makeup, I think the colour of the scratches need to be more so it will be seen more clearly on the camera.

Creating my final design of Estella

Estella make-up:
Equipments:
  • Cleanser, toner, moisturizer
  • An apron
  • Couch roll
  • Cotton pads
  • Cotton buds
  • Eyelash curler
  • A spatula
  • Steel palette
  • A foundation palette
  • Primer
  • Loose powder
  • A puff
  • A foundation brush
  • Concealer palette
  • A fine brush
  • Illamasqua eye shadow palette
  • Kryolan eye shadow palette
  • Missha honey melting tint (bitter rose colour)
  • Blush palette
  • A blush brush
  • Contouring palette
  • A contouring brush
  • An angle brush
  • An eye shadow brush
  • A lip brush
1) Clean, tone and moisturize the model’s face and put the apron on the model. Ask if she has got any allergies or wear any contact lenses.
2) Apply primer on the model's face.
3) Apply the lightest colour (Alabaster) from the foundation palette onto the face and neck with a foundation brush. Use the colour D4 and D7 from the concealer palette and apply the mixture on the under eyes to cover the dark circles.
4) Use the loose powder to powder the face with a puff.
5) Mix the colour black and brown from the Illamasqua eye shadow palette and create a dark brown colour. After that, apply it onto the brows using an angle brush (create arched eyebrows).
6) Apply the white pepper colour from the Kryolan eye shadow palette onto the eyelids with an eye shadow brush.
7) Contour the nose and under the cheekbones with the brown colour from the Illamasqua contouring palette. Then use the highlighter from the same palette and apply it onto the forehead, cheeks, nose and chin.
8) Finally, use the Missha melting tint and apply it onto the lips with a lip brush.

Hairstyle:
Equipments:

  • A brush, a comb and a tail comb
  • Hair tongs
  • A hair bobble
  • Bobby pins
  • Hair pins
  • Blue Ribbon x 1
  • Hair spray

1) Brush your model’s hair with the hair brush to make sure no tangles there. Divide the hair into middle parting. After that, divide the hair into front and back section. Like the picture shown below.

2) Grab some of the hair from the top part at the back and tie it into a high ponytail with a hair bobble.

3) Divide the hair from the ponytail into three different amounts of hair and use the hair tongs to curl the hair. Then, use bobby pins to secure the curls and place them in different direction curls. But for my model, I've curled in small section as it will be difficult to make the hair curly if I curled the hair with too many hair.
4) Then, for the bottom part of the hair, take section of hair and curl them with the hair tong. After that, secure it with the bobby pins and try to gather them in the middle (around the ponytail).
5) For the last bottom section of hair at the back, leave down and do not pin it up.

6) For the front section, divide the hair on each side into 4 sections (the three sections on the top should got more hair than the last section). Curl the top three sections and remember to hold the hair tongs horizontally when curling the hair.
7) Curl the forth section and remember to hold the hair tongs vertically as you want the side to be smooth. After that, pin the hair to the back.
8)  For the third section, pin it to the back section as well. Then, join the first and second section together and pin them to the back as well (the fringe will create a wave).
9) Finally, attached the blue ribbon at the bottom part of the hair at the back using a hair pin.
On above are the photos of my final make-up and hair design of Estella. I found it very different to work on my partner's head compare to do the hairstyle on the practice head and I found it quite difficult to work on my partner's hair as well. When I did the practice on my practice head, the curls do stay in shape very easily as it hasn't got smooth, sleek hair. But when I did the hairstyle on my partner's hair, because the hair is smooth and sleek, the curls didn't stay in shape very easily. In order to improve next time, as you can see the two loose curls leaving down on the shoulders aren't the same and so next time, I should get the same amounts of hair in order to balance the two sides.
